These types can be combined into hybrids as well through exceedingly rare circumstances!
★ Standard Browbirds ★
This type is the standard of the species, they abide by all regular species rules and rarities.
They are found all across the Surface of the Celestial Seas, primarily preferring to stick to the central areas of their galactic domain, as well as the city-world of Centuary. But there is nothing stopping them from exploring, and finding other places to live! They are hardy and agile beings who adapt quickly to their surroundings are able to move quickly over land, through trees, or up rocky cliffs and mountains. Their natural affinity for all the different aspects of magic makes them perfect as all manner of magic-user and very versatile! There is no one true way to describe them, as they are a varied species and can have all different types of personalities, professions, skills, talents, and other such things! About 90% or so of the species is made up of normal browbirds. Currently, you may not change to another type freely, but there are rumors of rare and mysterious items that allow you to do so... ★ Hiros Browbirds ★
Hiros browbirds are a very rare subspecies with only a handfull of small scattered populations. They are overall, quite similar to standard browbirds in their anatomy and abilities, but with one obvious difference. Hiros browbirds often have wings!
A few thousand years ago there was a great conflict that transpired between the flightless browbirds and the hiros, causing many of their ancestral cities to fall, and a large portion of their population to be wiped out. Because of this, to this day, there are still many hiros who prefer to keep to their own closed of hiros cities. However, despite this there are still many hiros travelers and ground-dwelling hiros! With the mingling the hiros are doing, you'll also see quite a few more half-hiros browbirds as well. The largest populations of hiros are found in two remote locations that can be difficult to reach without a ship, and even they you may not be granted access. The most famous of their cities is the flying fortress controlled by Skylord Pavellon, who pilots the city in the skies above Wildre, the browbird homeworld. It is rumoured that the hiros who live there have all sorts of wondrous technomagical advancements hidden away there to themselves, as well as tons of enchanted artifacts and long forgotten secrets of their former empire. It is still very closed off, but they are gradually opening up more tourism opportunities to non-hiros, as well as other species as a way to build strength between the people. Hiros browbirds are the only type that will grow feathers along with their fur, all other browbirds will usually only have fur and hair! They have basic natural means of grooming their feathers in the form of two slightly longer nails on both hands. Their bodies are naturally very flexible, allowing them to groom their wings and back with ease, but they also will use various types of products and magic that are easily available to them to keep their feathers shining! Though it is known by few outside of hiros civilizations, Hiros browbirds are actually a crossbreed between browbirds and a different type of creature called Hylos, which are a winged angel-like race that was once a very prominent species that help a powerful hold on most of the spacial seas and had sought to help the browbird species advance further since they saw them as powerful allies. This is why hiros browbirds have several traits not found on regular browbirds, aside from the wings. Half hiros browbirds are becoming more and more common in recent times with the hiros being more open to interacting with others in the last 500 years. Hiros browbirds are only available to create if your MYO or custom is stated that allows for a hiros design! Magical Aspect Slots: 3 Average Height: 4'0" to 7'0" (120cm - 215cm) Average Lifespan: 250 to 300 years
Required Traits: To be a hiros you must meet ONE of the following requirements 1. A set of small, medium, or large feathered wings on the back 2. In the absence of wings, at least 2 hiros-only traits must be present You can find hiros-only traits here! Other Features: (For story/roleplay) ★ Resistant to cold temperatures and frost magic ★ Resistant to hot temperatures and fire magic ★ Strong sense of direction and sharper memory ★ Their bones are semi-hollow to allow for easier flight. However, this has the side effect of making them much lighter than a standard browbird of the same size. ★ On average, they are not often as physically strong as a standard browbird. A hiros has to work harder to build muscle. |
Ancient Browbirds
Ancient browbirds are a special subspecies or attribute that can be obtained randomly when they are born as a gift from the gods, or achieved through working incredibly hard over to learn aspect mastery. The mastery of an aspect will show that aspect on the character, such as hair made of flames or wings made or leaves, clearly marking them as an ancient.
Anyone can become an ancient through hard work and studies to reach aspect mastery. And anyone can also be born with aspect mastery, who their parents are has no effect on whether or not someone becomes an ancient. It's a random chance!
For those born with aspect mastery, it's common for them to be given more help and guidance from their mentors about how to use and control their overwhelming magical power.
Ancients may be the closest thing to royalty of the species, though that lifestyle isn't inherent to them. Many ancients spend their long lives traveling across the stars to gather knowledge and spread the things they learn to others. Many ancients will take on students as well!
It is actually possible to become an ancient without being born into the title, however it takes a lot of training and dedication.

Halv Browbirds
Halvs are browbirds who have had direct exposure to the corruption brought on by the abyssal void.
For many years, the large majority of browbird society has feared and cast out those with the Halv's corrpuption. They can be seen as monsters and untrustworthy due to their uncontrollable power and connections with the god of the void.
Halv is a common form of the full name of this type, Halvys. Which would roughly translate to "Of Avys [karn]". It is written in the runic language with a unique symbol.
There are two types of halvs.
The more well known would be the two-formed halv. These are browbirds who retain their standard form, but will shift into their fully corrupted form under specific circumstances. When in their 'true' forms, they will often wear a mask as seeing their own faces that are so different from their normal face can be very upsetting and throw them into dissociative fits easily.
The standard form will look like a regular browbird, while the halv form is much larger with all manner of monsterous features.
The other type of halv is the single-formed halv. These are halvs who do not shift, and have a singular form which has been corrupted and cannot be hidden easily with glamours. These browbirds will also wear masks, as the corruption will still change them from how they once looked.
While many halvs are harmless and wish only to live out their lives in peace, there are always those who closely follow the will of Avys'karn, as well as those who just become vicious creatures relying on instinct. The void deity always has some ounce of control over each halv, since he is the root of the corruption that is afflicting them. He will even sometimes reach out to halvs that pique his interest...

Revenant Browbird
Revenant browbirds, or "Revs" for short are the reanimated corpses of fallen browbird warriors who's bodies have then had the soul of a powerful mage bound to them through a special ritual. The souls often times are not that of the original body's!
They will be stripped of all their memories and connections when risen, but sometimes there will be faint glimpses of their past. Of both the body's past, and the soul's past. Things can become very muddled and confusing, which can drive many revenants to find out more about who they once were. A quest that can sometimes take centuries to fully complete and understand.
Many revenants are quite old, being risen from the corpses of knights and mages that fought in wars long ago. As they cannot die through normal means, many have seen hundreds of years beyond what a standard browbird would live. This is the main reason as to why they are often times feared by the general browbird population, even thousands of years later. Revenants were the primary type that the void deimity Rovok used in the void wars. He bound hundreds of revenants to his will by resurrecting them, and used them to destroy many cities and take countless lives.
All revenants, if not created by Rovok, were instead risen by death ancients. Death ancients are the only ones with the strength and knowledge to raise one using the special revenant ritual. Because of this, however, many ancients were sought out and killed or had magic restriction brands placed on them to prevent them from raising more revenants. Because of this, as well as the general taboo of raising the dead, Newly raised revenants are not common even among this already rare type.
There are only two ways to kill a revenant.
1. If the one who raised them dismisses the magic keeping the revenant alive in its entirety, then the revenant will die. However, if the one who raised a revenant dies then this option dies with them, leaving the revenant with only one other weakness.
2. Using a ritual performed with astral magic by an astral ancient, the soul can be completely ripped from the body with all connections severed.

Astrean Browbirds
Astreans are a species that is a close relative to browbirds, the two are a branching species that evolved alongside each other.
They are a semi-aquatic race that lived beneath the waves in large underwater castles made of glass and gold that are often referred to as "cathedrals" or "temples". These cities are located in the deepest, farthest reaches of the sea and most of them have been left to fall to ruins. There are a small few preserved Astrean cities, but these places have been sealed away with old magic that modern research has only just begun to crack.
Astreans were an extremely advanced society with magical advancements that far surpassed modern magical tech. There are countless astrean devices that are still not understood, and more are being discovered with each temple that has been revealed. The most well known discovery of astreans is that they had discovered a way to observe information in all layers of reality without the use of an individual with starsight or connections to the void. They build huge structures at the center of their cathedrals that they called observatories. With this, they could peer into the seas of time and beyond to gather and transcribe knowledge beyond mortal limits.
One day, nearly 4000 years ago, the entire species had vanished from the world without leaving any hints to where they had gone. The only evidence left behind are the symbols and charts that cover the ceilings of their observatories, though they have yet to be deciphered. A small few astreans had stayed behind, but due to their limited lifespans they had sealed themselves away within crystals in a state of stasis. At the center of each temple now waits a dormant astrean, awaiting their chosen date that they will awaken.
These astreans are generally very secretive and reclusive, due to being unfamiliar with much of the new world. However, they are naturally curious and excited to learn how things have changed in all these years! If asked about what had happened to the rest of their species though, this is something they will never reveal.

Reverie Browbirds
Reverie are a type of browbird that have become dreamscapers. They are able to alter the fabric of reality in accordance with their imagination, manipulating the physical world as if it were a dream.
Dreamscapers are created when a normal person falls through a rift between reality and winds up alive, but trapped in the magic of the dreamscape as their physical self. They will wander endlessly, and over time the intense magical energies will coat their soul, similar to how a pearl is formed. Eventually, they will be a new person, and if they managed to break free of the dreamscape, they can use their powers on the physical world.
The only way to defeat a reverie is to find their key, and use it on them. Because of this, they often will keep their keys close, or hide their keys far away in dangerous locations.
