Hiros are browbirds have distant heritiage ties to the Hylos, a mysterious race of angelic space beings. This caused a small group of browbirds to split off and eventually develop wings in ancient times. In the Celestial Seas univers, hiros are thought of as especially mysterious and magical, and given that they are extremely rare it only causes others to be more curious about these winged people.
Hiros come from a flying city by the name of Throne. The city soars above the clouds of the browbird homeworld guarded by an ancient skylord named Pavellon, and it is the last remaining hiros sky fortress following the Void Wars. Nearly all hiros were born there or have ties to that place, but it's not unheard of to find one on some distant star who never knew of the city's existence. Those who are born far away from the city may make it their quest to journey there one day.
Pairs between hiros browbirds venturing out from their home city and standard browbirds from the worlds below are actually fairly common and acceptable in hiros society. Some of these unions even result in a half-hiros, a special hybrid who often will be born with small wings, or non at all! Hiros accept half-hiros without question, and they are welcomed into the flying fortress. Though they still hold a strong distrust for any non-hiros outsiders and rarely will let them into the city.
Hiros, overall, have a distinct culture, religion, and beliefs that is different from those you may see on the surface of the browbird homeworld. They often have more family-like care structures for browlets where browlets are allowed free roam and are looked after by everyone in the city. Hiros also often form smaller tight-nit groups of 2-3 birds rather than larger flocks or complex relationship webs like non-hiros browbirds do. They are more open to many types of magic, including the more dangerous types (like death and chaos) and are more accepting of risky magical experimentation. They also do not mind halvs and revenants and do not hold any fears towards them, curiosity would often be their first thought rather than fear or worry.

For a design to be considered a hiros the need to meet one of the following minimum requirements:
A set of wings on the character's back
-or-
At least two hiros traits in absence of back wings
Beyond these two requirements, all other hiros features are optional. You can still use standard browbird features for a hiros!

★ Full Hiros Designs ★
★ Feathered Wings
All full blooded hiros browbirds must have a set of wings, these wings can only be feathered and bird-like, all other types of wings. Bat wings, dragon wings, insect wings, or hybrid wings are not features of hiros browbirds. ★ Hiros Vs. Half Hiros The wings of a hiros are moderate to very large in size. To contrast, a half hiros can have small, flightless wings or no wings at all. ★ Spines and wing styles You may add spikes or a small "thumb" at the elbow of the wings, as well as using different wing styles and builds for the feathers! ★ More than one wing set A standard hiros will only have a single set one wings. A second set of wings on the back is rare, and a third is considered mythic. Three wing sets on the back is the maximum a hiros browbird can have. ★ Missing wing or injury Hiros can lose their wings or have them rendered flightless through injury, or perhaps they were just born that way. You can design a hiros with only one wing. If the character has no other hiros traits and is missing both wings, please still provide a wing reference for the masterlist! |
★ Feathers ★
★ Feathers - Hiros can have fluff covering their bodies, or feathers, or a mixture of both. These feathers are very soft, fluffy, and mostly downy, but they can have longer feathers on their tails and for hair as well!
★ Wing Crest Effects ★
Hiros browbirds get access to two specific crest effects unique to their type!
The wings themselves can be styled differently than what is shown. They can blend more with the crest or be more stylized.
They can be attached to the crest or floating very close to it.
They can be applied to any crest shape, not just the ones shown in examples.
The uncommon winged effect can have 1 - 2 wings placed anywhere on the crest.
The rare empyrean effect can have 3-6 wings anywhere on the crest.
Wings should be no bigger than what is shown. However, there is no size limit to wings on mythic crests.

★ Wing Ears ★
Hiros can have the feathery wing ears! These ears can move and emote like regular ears, but can also flap like wings!
The common wings (first row) all show the maximum size available for common wing ears, but rare wing ears can be much bigger than shown!
Wing ears replace regular ears, so no other ears should be present!

★ Head & Face Wings ★
Hiros can have a variety of detail wings in the face and head area!
Some of them can flare out and flap like regular wings, though obviously they would not allow one to fly.
The common and uncommon wings show the maximum size of each wing type, but the uncommon and rare can be larger than those shown!
As a note, wing hair specifically would replace your character's hair, so they would not have regular hair WITH the wing hair.

★ Body Wings ★
Hiros can have wings in various places on their bodies. They are small and flightless.
All body wings are rare no matter the size or location.
Body wings can be mirrored on both sides or asymmetrical.
Each body wing set counts as one rare trait. (A set is 2 wings mirrored on the body, or one asymmetrical wing on one side of the body)
Chest wings - Hip wings - wrist wings - shoulder wings - foot wings

★ Horns ★
Hiros browbirds have access to horn styles that no other type has.
Winged horns are uncommon, Volant horns are rare, and Halo horns are mythic.

★ Tails ★
A perk to being a hiros is the option of winged and feathered tails.
Using an uncommon or rare hiros tail still would require the use of an uncommon or rare trait.
You are not limited to the tails shown, and can combine some features of these tails with that of standard tails.
